I am struggling to find a place to consider home. When people ask me where I am from, I ask them "Do you want to know where I was born, where I went to high school, or where I went to college?"

I have many identities based on different locations. West Point New York is my place of birth. Cincinnati, Ohio is where I went to high school and Holland Michigan is where I went to college.

As I finish up graduate school and go on job interviews I find myself looking at those areas of the country where I have not lived, searching for that place that will give me the feeling of home.

There are two places that I feel a real connection to: Colorado, where we lived for two years after returning from Germany and Holland, Michigan where I went to college. I try to explain to my friends what it is about that town that draws me and they don't understand. They are all trying to get me to move past the one place where I feel at home.

My friends and even my brother cannot relate to my quest. They have roots firmly planted in one area or another and they feel comfortable returning to those areas after graduation.

Will I have a perpetual case of wanderlust? I find myself at a point in my life when I would like to find a place where I can plant roots and stay a spell.

Is it possible to find such a place?
