Learning about the Present
We live in an Internet world where people Twitter, IM, text and email constantly. This ability to instantly communicate is great, but will what you are experiencing as Military Brats today survive for future generations?
Military Brat Life is a great way for those who are just getting started as Military Brats to share with us "seasoned" Military Brats what life is like today on bases and where the military is sending families to.
This website is my attempt to better preserve our unique heritage and culture by providing writers an audience and an easy way to publish essays, articles, fiction, poetry and to blog.
While all Military Brats have much in common, such as moving from base to base, making friends and leaving friends overnight, adapting to strange new countries, trying new food recipes and doing things the "Military Way", each of us experienced the Military Brat Life in different ways.
Preserving the Past
As the world changes, the role of the U.S. Military changes. Many of us who grew up during the "Cold War" have learned of bases and schools which were a huge part of our lives, have now closed. It is sad to try and go down "memory lane" only to find the housing area you lived and played in Germany, has now been torn down and replaced with modern apartment buildings.
Even if you don't think of yourself as a polished writer, if you have something to say and you an put it on paper, you have something of value to other Military Brats.
If you have any questions about this website, please contact me.
And if you have anything about your experiences growing up in a military family you would like to share with us, please use our Register As An Author page and register. It's free and fun!
