Greg Kerr

I was born in 1954. My father was an engineer officer and I lived the life of an Army Brat until Dad retired in 1969. We were stationed in locales such as Missouri, Oklahoma, England, Germany and Texas. Dad retired to the Atlanta, Georgia area in 1970, where I have since lived. My jobs have varied from carpentry work, commercial fishing in Alaska and a press operator. I spent the majority of my latter career in the shooting sports industry, both retail and wholesale. I have been married for 32 years with three grown children.

Vacation Time

"I think that to go on vacation is in my blood. It all started with my parents. I suppose the military lifestyle is to blame, or perhaps something they put into the water on all those army bases. Regardless, my genetic code has altered and mutated to the point where the act of going on vacation has now been passed on to my children as well. That's how that stuff works."

Road Weary

Greg Kerr shares with the readers of Military Brat Life something we all have in common—long road trips we took as families, moving from place to place, and visiting family along the way.

Living With John Wayne

Greg Kerr brings us a great tribute to his father, his hero.

A Military Brat in Karlsruhe Germany

In the summer of 1960 my Father received orders for a tour of duty in Germany. Our home for the past three years had been the town of Stillwater Oklahoma. Dad was an Army captain in the Engineer Corps who had been one of just a few active-duty personnel assigned to an Army Reserve unit. I had no idea how living in Karlsruhe Germany would be so different from living in the United States of America.
